This page explains what information LongboardHub (longboardhub.com, “we”) collects when you visit the site, why, and the choices you have. We have kept it short and in plain English. If anything is unclear, email us at [email protected].
The short version
- You can read every page without an account. There are no visitor accounts, no comment forms and no contact forms on this site.
- We use Google Analytics to see which pages are read, so we know what is useful. It uses cookies, which you can accept or reject in our cookie banner.
- Our free tools (quiz, checklists, route planner and similar) save your answers only in your own browser. We never receive them.
- Links to Amazon are affiliate links. Amazon, not us, handles anything you buy there.
- We do not sell your personal information.
Information we collect
Analytics
We use Google Analytics, added to the site through Google’s Site Kit plugin. It tells us things like which pages were viewed, how long people stayed, which site or search brought them here, the type of device and browser used, and the visitor’s general location (country or city, worked out from the IP address). Google says that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We use these reports only as totals, to decide what to write and what to fix.
You choose whether Google Analytics may use cookies. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, it sets no cookies until you click Accept in the cookie banner. Everywhere else it is on unless you click Reject. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. If you reject, no analytics cookies are stored on your device, and Google may still receive a basic signal that a page was viewed, without any cookie or identifier.
If you use the search box, the words you search for become part of the page address, so they can appear in these reports. Please do not type personal details into the search box.
Google processes this data under its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy. You can see how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Hosting and security
Like every website, our web host receives standard technical information when your browser asks for a page: your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. This is kept in server logs used for security and fixing problems. The site also runs through Cloudflare, which delivers pages faster and blocks harmful traffic. Cloudflare processes the same technical information for that purpose and may set a cookie that is needed for security.
Fonts
Our headings use the Archivo font from Google Fonts. To show it, your browser fetches the font from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address in the process. Google says that the Google Fonts service does not set cookies.
Our free tools
The match quiz, checklists, saved setups, maintenance tracker, route planner and similar tools store what you enter in your browser’s local storage, on your own device. This information is not sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply and to deal with what you asked about, and we keep it only as long as needed for that.
What we do not collect
Comments are turned off, there are no visitor accounts or log-ins, and we do not run a newsletter at the moment. If that changes, we will update this page first.
Affiliate links to Amazon
LongboardHub is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you click a link to Amazon.com and buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. When you arrive on Amazon, Amazon may set cookies so it can tell that you came from our site. Amazon tells us which products were ordered through our links and the commission earned. We do not receive your name, address, payment details or anything else that identifies you. Amazon’s own privacy notice applies on its site: amazon.com/privacy.
Cookies
| Cookie | Set by | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_ followed by an ID | Google Analytics | Counts visits and tells new visitors from returning ones | Up to 2 years |
| Security cookies, such as __cf_bm | Cloudflare | Helps block automated and harmful traffic | About 30 minutes |
| wordpress_ and wp- cookies | WordPress | Keeps site editors logged in. Ordinary visitors do not get these | Until log-out, or up to 14 days |
Your answer in the cookie banner is saved in your browser’s local storage, not in a cookie, for 12 months. After that we ask again. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site still works without them. To stop Google Analytics measuring your visits on every site, you can install Google’s opt-out browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
How long we keep information
Google Analytics reports are kept for the period set in our Google Analytics account and are then deleted by Google. Server logs are kept by our host for a limited time for security. Emails are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.
Who we share information with
Only the services named on this page (Google Analytics, Google Fonts, Cloudflare, our web host and Amazon) receive information, and only to do the jobs described here. We do not sell personal information. We may share information if the law requires it. These services may process information in the United States and other countries.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how it is used. We hold very little: usually nothing more than an email you sent us. To make a request, email [email protected]. We will reply as soon as we can, and within the time the law in your area requires. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
LongboardHub is written for a general audience. Some guides help parents choose a board for a child, but the site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
Links to other websites
Our articles link to other websites, including Amazon. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they handle your information.
Security
The whole site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection. No website can promise perfect security, but we keep the information we hold to a minimum.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top.
